Initially, National Highways had announced a three-night closure of the A47 Yarmouth Road, specifically from December 15th to 17th. This closure was slated to affect the stretch between the Cucumber Lane roundabout (also known as Brundall roundabout) and the Acle roundabout. This was all part of the ongoing, substantial £100 million project aimed at transforming this section into a dual carriageway – a project designed to improve traffic flow and safety for all road users.
But here's the twist: the plan has changed.
National Highways has now confirmed that the closure initially planned for the night of December 17th is no longer necessary. This means one less night of potential disruption for drivers. However, the closures for December 15th and 16th will proceed as previously announced.
A National Highways spokeswoman offered an apology for any inconvenience caused by these last-minute adjustments. They also expressed gratitude for everyone's patience as this important work progresses towards the new dual carriageway.
