The minister, responsible for sports and communications, attended the matches from 2022 to 2024, but billed the public for her husband's and other family members' travel expenses. These expenses totaled nearly $9,000 for the three weekends, with individual costs varying each year.
And the spending doesn't stop there. Last week, it was disclosed that Wells charged taxpayers $190,000 for a trip to New York, including a $70,000 event and $100,000 in flights for her, a staffer, and a public servant. The trip was to promote a new social media policy, but the timing was controversial due to the Optus Triple Zero outage, which tragically resulted in several deaths.
