The issue stems from the lack of sufficient documentation of factors influencing reaction outcomes, which can lead to costly and time-consuming errors. Despite this, homogeneous catalysis, a key area of focus, has been deemed reliable, with only perennial challenges rather than a crisis. The workshop attendees, comprising researchers from various sectors, brainstormed best practices for reproducibility, emphasizing the need for a community-wide effort. This includes rigorous experimental design, detailed documentation, and a shift in the publish-or-perish culture, where corrections are not punished but encouraged. The importance of reproducibility is underscored by its impact on technology transfer and trust in science. With catalytic processes accounting for over 35% of worldwide GDP, ensuring reproducibility is crucial for the practical application of scientific discoveries. The workshop's recommendations, published on a preprint server, invite further contributions from chemists, highlighting the need for a collective effort to address this issue.
