This set is a more manageable 115 cards, contrasting the spring's Ascended Heroes set, which topped out at 295 cards. Pitch Black includes special illustrations and new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards, with four of the six confirmed Mega Evolution Pokémon revealed so far: Mega Darkrai ex, Mega Zeraora ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Excadrill ex. The set's pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed, but it sets a benchmark for future releases.
Following Pitch Black, the First Partner Illustration Collection Series 3 arrives in August, priced at $14.99. This series focuses on starter Pokémon from the Hoenn, Kalos, and Paldea regions, offering illustration rare-style promo cards celebrating the bond between Trainers and their first Pokémon partner. The collection's popularity is evident, with Series 1 and 2 releases earlier in the year.
The fall season brings the highly anticipated 30th Celebration expansion, launching worldwide on September 16th. This release marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time all regions receive a major Pokémon TCG release simultaneously, aiming to curb inflated pricing in overseas import markets. The set features entirely foil booster packs, including basic energy cards, and each pack includes one of 30 specially commissioned Pikachu cards created by different artists. Additionally, the set introduces a new premium card tier called Futuristic Rare, starting with Mew and Mewtwo cards illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. Collectors can also find special 30th-anniversary reprints of classic cards, including Base Set Charizard and the Pikachu & Zekrom-GX Tag Team card, though these reprints are not legal for Standard tournament play.
The 30th Celebration release will be rolled out in stages, with the Elite Trainer Box, Sylveon and Greninja ex Boxes, Poster Collection, Tech Sticker Collections, and other items launching on September 16th. Additional products, including Espeon and Umbreon Battle Decks, will be available in October, followed by a final wave in early November featuring Ditto and Mew and Mewtwo Premium Collections, along with Day and Night Ultra-Premium Collections. These premium collections are priced at $179.99 each.
Closing out the year's confirmed releases is Delta Reign, known as Storm Emeralda in Japan, scheduled for a global release on November 6th. This set marks the return of Mega Rayquaza, a fan-favorite card from the Evolving Skies expansion.
