Ubisoft's Q3 Financials: Assassin's Creed drives 12% net bookings growth (2026)

Ubisoft's Financial Success: A Controversial Rise?

Ubisoft's recent financial report for the third quarter has sparked some intriguing discussions. With net bookings soaring to €338 million, primarily fueled by the iconic Assassin's Creed franchise, the company exceeded its own expectations. But here's where it gets controversial: this growth comes amidst a period of restructuring and workforce changes.

Let's dive into the numbers and uncover the story behind this financial surge.

The Financial Breakdown:
For the nine months ending December 31, 2025:
- Revenue: €976.2 million (a slight dip of 1.4% year-on-year)
- Net Bookings: €1.1 billion (a significant 18% increase year-on-year)
- Digital Net Bookings: €941.7 million (an impressive 20% growth year-on-year)
- Back-Catalogue Net Bookings: €1.03 billion (a massive 36.2% jump year-on-year)

And for the three months ending December 31, 2025:
- Net Bookings: €338 million (a 12% increase year-on-year)
- Digital Net Bookings: €297 million (a 10.7% rise year-on-year)

The Key Highlights:
Ubisoft's Q3 performance exceeded all forecasts, thanks to the success of its partnerships and, of course, the beloved Assassin's Creed franchise. The November release of Anno 117: Pax Romana outshone its predecessor, Anno 1800, while Rainbow Six Siege maintained its expected performance.

Monthly active users for Rainbow Six Siege saw a year-on-year increase, and daily active users in early January doubled those from November. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, after its From The Ashes expansion, experienced a surge in player engagement, with 'session days' almost doubling year-on-year.

In 2025, Ubisoft reported a total of 130 million monthly active users across console and PC, with December's figure reaching an impressive 38 million, up 3% year-on-year.

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, commented, "We delivered a solid third-quarter performance, with net bookings growing at a double-digit rate year-on-year, exceeding our expectations. This performance showcases the strength of our diverse portfolio and the deep engagement of players across our core franchises."

During this period, Ubisoft completed Tencent's €1.16 billion investment in Vantage Studios, which oversees several major franchises, including Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. In December, the company also acquired the upcoming MOBA March of Giants from Amazon Game Studios, following workforce reductions at Amazon's game publishing division.

Last month, Ubisoft announced its restructuring plans, including the introduction of its new Creative House structure. The company stated that its transformation is well underway, with key leadership appointments set to begin in March 2026. However, this transformation has not been without controversy, as more than 1,200 employees participated in a three-day international strike in response to these restructuring plans.

Guillemot added, "This transformation aims to sharpen our focus, accelerate decision-making, and elevate our creative ambitions in a selective market. As we execute this plan, our financial stability and available cash provide the flexibility needed to address short-term challenges while we work on extending our debt profile."

The question remains: Can Ubisoft's financial success and creative ambitions coexist amidst these organizational changes? What are your thoughts on Ubisoft's recent developments? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
